Marin Community Fridges are a mutual aid space where people take responsibility for caring for one another by redistributing resources. Fridges are set up and run by the people, for the people, and they serve as a solution for both food insecurity and food waste. Free food for all. No questions asked. Whistlestop Meals on Wheels
Delivering peace of mind every day.
For more than half a century, Meals on Wheels has served as a vital lifeline by delivering meals to housebound adults throughout America. Here in Marin County, Whistlestop delivers fresh, chilled meals up to three times each week to more than 250 housebound older adults in our community.
If you are in need of home-delivered meals, simply phone 415-457-4636 to get signed up through the County of Marin. Meal recipients or their families are asked to make a small suggested contribution of $3.50/meal to help off-set the costs of providing the service.
Whistlestop Nourish
Whistlestop Nourish will continue to serve meals with a modified delivery schedule during the Coronavirus outbreak.
Whistlestop Nourish delivers food to people in Marin County suffering from chronic or life-threatening illnesses. Thanks to a partnership with ExtraFood and dedicated volunteer drivers, Nourish provides up to seven meals each week, with three delivery days. Anyone living in Marin County with a chronic or life-threatening illness, of any age, in need of home-delivered meals, is eligible for Nourish. 3rd Wed of the month, 9:30am-12:30pm
Every third Wednesday of the month, Whistlestop participates in the Supplemental Food Program, where on average, 66 older adults and 5 children receive food boxes that include a variety of quality foods such as tuna, rice, cheese, pasta and peanut butter. This is a Federal program being offered in Marin for the first time. It is designed to serve those individuals who do not participate in the WIC food stamp program. If you live in Marin, are 60 years old and your income is less than $1,265/month (or you have a child younger than 6 years old and your family does not participate in WIC), you may be eligible for the Supplemental Food Program. Food boxes include a variety of quality foods such as tuna, rice, cheese, pasta and peanut butter. Please bring original form of ID, proof of income, and proof of residency.
